Unearth, is a show that explores the complex themes of identity via interdisciplinary means. From found and natural objects, carnivalesque artifacts, and layered tiled metaphors, the work within this show invites its audience to explore the past and present of artists Kathryn Fanelli, Xuân Pham, and Vick Quezada. All are welcome to walk through this intersectional show as it references the cross-cultural experiences found uniquely in the U.S.
Curator :
Second generation painter and worker, Kathryn Fanelli lived her early life on the carnival midway around a coterie of folk travelers drawing inspiration from the carnivalesque phenomenon. A contemplative wisdom seeker, Fanelli digs down deep, deconstructing the underground.
Fanelli honors the reality of carnival as a place of fundamental imagination, meaning, and poetic creation. It has torn itself loose as a derogatory term and springs new life into a resonant spiritual
landscape of a people. Sculptural works include amusement rides, ceramic, drawing, light, paint, and metal. She has a Masters Degree in sculpture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
